Homeschool science and math taught by people who love it.

Science Mom and Math Dad have built a science and math curriculum for homeschooling families, from grades 4 through 8.

  • Self-paced courses,
  • follow-along notes, and
  • lessons designed to make your student curious

Science Courses

Whether you need one subject or a full multi-year plan, we have a course for it. Our science curriculum starts in 4th grade and runs through 8th, covering Earth Science, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, Geoscience, and Physics. Every course includes video lessons with Science Mom and Math Dad, follow-along notes, and built-in comprehension checks. One purchase covers your whole family, and lessons never expire.

Each science course is independent of the others, so there is no strict order. Below is the suggested sequence of courses.

A vertical list of the suggested order of the courses: 1. Earth Science (4th/5th grade) 2. Chemistry (4th/5th grade) 3. Biology 1 (grade 6) 4. Biology 2 (grade 6) 5. Astronomy (grade 7) 6. Geoscience (grade 7) 7. Physics 1 (grade 8) 8. Physics 2 (grade 8)

Accelerated Middle School Math

Our math sequence takes students from Grade 6 through Algebra 1. The accelerated courses will get you through Algebra 1 during middle school, or give you a chance to catch up if you are behind.

The three course sequence is laid out with Grade 6 Math, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra 1. The graphic shows how Grade 6 Math and Pre-Algebra are accelerated to cover the Common Core State Standards for grades 6, 7, and 8 inside a two year sequence.

Our math courses use the interactive Amplify-Desmos math curriculum. Complete the activities alongside video instruction from Math Dad. After each lesson, there are practice problems to complete.

Hi, We're Science Mom and Math Dad

Science Mom has an M.S. in Plant Science from Utah State University. Math Dad has a Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University. We run the Science Mom YouTube channel where we create educational content for kids.

Science Mom and Math Dad teach self-paced courses using a secular curriculum. Each course uses an open-and-go design that requires minimal preparation and supervision. In our science courses, each lesson has follow-along notes, interactive comprehension questions, and quizzes. Students can participate in polls while watching the recorded lessons. There are science and art projects for deeper dives. Our math courses use the interactive Desmos curriculum. Each video lesson has an exploratory activity and practice material to complete after the lesson.
